Lactation Counseling

Helping you and your baby thrive

If you are an Origin Story client, breastfeeding support is an integral part of your care.

Lactation counseling visits are also available for breastfeeding families not receiving comprehensive midwifery services.

When should I seek lactation support?

Your experience during the first days of learning to nurse a baby are, statistically, likely to be the most crucial markers for ongoing success in your breastfeeding experience. However, concerns may crop up at any time, and for as long as you’d like to improve the nursing relationship with your little one, it’s never too early or too late to reach out for help.

If you’d like to gain some knowledge to feel better prepared ahead of your baby’s birth, check out the educational opportunities, also offered at Origin Story.

Breastfeeding is natural, but it’s a learned art. Ensuring that you have a good supply with effective milk transfer and a comfortable latch early on is the best way to support a healthy, enjoyable experience.

Breastfeeding not only helps your baby grow properly, it also protects your health.

If you are presently experiencing supply issues, infant growth concerns or discomfort, please reach out for an appointment so we can help get you back on track swiftly.

Breastfeeding should never hurt!

"The newborn baby has only three demands: warmth in the arms of his mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three."
